(1920 - 1933) Pompon has worked most of his life in the service of other artists. From 1890 to 1895 he directed Rodin's studio, after which he assisted René de Saint-Marceaux until 1916. In addition, he was looking for his own style over the years, with the emerging Japonisme and his admiration for Egyptian art playing a major role. His big break came at the age of 67 with the exhibition of his famous polar bear.
