Jo  is a dedicated artist based in Scotland. Her artistic world is deeply rooted in the beauty of nature, particularly the mysterious and atmospheric landscape of Cornwall. She is perpetually inspired by the most beautiful shapes and lines that cover the hillsides, seeking to capture their essence rather than just their appearance.
Rather than merely depicting scenes, she seeks to capture the beautiful shapes and lines of the hillsides, interpreting their essence through her unique abstract style.
"My artistic journey? I was the middle triplet who tutored classmates in art at age five. Later, a teacher looked at my A-Level attempt at an abstract and told me to stick to drawing and never try to paint.Fortunately, I knew she was wrong! I went on to study Art as a Main and have been learning and practicing both my drawing and my painting ever since.
 
Finding Her Voice
Though Jo began painting at the age of five and went professional in 1992, her defining moment came later when she was challenged to embrace abstraction.
This led to her breakthrough in Calderdale, resulting in the iconic large abstracts, "Huge Music" and "Over a Giant Beating Wing." This work allowed her to move beyond superficial recording, absorbing and interpreting the landscape in her own way.
